Christiane Reilly, Ph.D is a long time educator and founder of reDesignED where she leads the organization’s research on authentic, culturally responsive teaching as a design science. She launched reDesignED to support the field of education through one of its most significant transitions — the shift toward a more equitable and personalized education system that fosters the future-relevant skills students need to succeed in times of change.
She is the co-creator, with Dr. Thomas C. Reeves (Professor Emeritus, University of Georgia), of the Authentic Task Rubric™ and Learning Outcomes Mapping Protocol — tools validated through peer-reviewed research and published under Creative Commons for open use across the field.
The Authentic Task Rubric™ originated in Dr. Reilly’s doctoral dissertation at the University of Minnesota, a design-based research study validated across 75 undergraduate courses spanning multiple disciplines, drawing on more than 1,000 coded student testimonies. Her current work extends this foundation through three connected lines of inquiry: Culturally-responsive Teaching by DESIGN: From principles to practice, Authentic by DESIGN: From principles to practice, and Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) as a core 21st century learning design.
